The United States Navy

The United States Navy is mostly responsible for naval missions and operations for the U.S.  The Navy is well known for their flexibility and mobility as a fighting force, and their exceptional skills at carrying out sea based military operations.

The Marines and the US Navy both carry out both peace time and war time seaborne objectives, and the Navy enjoys a special relationship with the Marines.  The two fighting forces work closely together when the need arises for such cooperation.  In some cases, Marines qualify for the Navy cross and the Naval Academy provides training for some USMC officers.  The United States Navy also works closely with the United States Coast Guard since the Navy is precluded by law from performing certain law enforcement duties, but the Coast Guard is able to carry out.

Serving during the Revolutionary War, the United States Navy was formed and known as the Continental Navy and was disbanded in 1790.  When the original U.S. Constitution gave Congress the power to form and maintain a naval force, the Navy was reassembled in 1794.  The United States Navy has grown into the superior fighting force of the seas that we are currently familiar with today.

The US Navy offers high school students a wide variety of jobs, most notable that of high tech US Navy jobs all around the globe. There are US Navy jobs that match the talents and interests of just about everyone. And as long as you’re in the US Navy, you’ll get top–notch training, exceptional benefits and the experience of a lifetime.

The US Navy offers several ways to help high school students pay college expenses. Those making good grades and involved in extracurricular activities may qualify for the US Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. (NROTC) scholarships or be nominated for the US Naval Academy.

The NROTC Program was established to educate and train qualified young men and women for US Navy Jobs as commissioned officers in the unrestricted line Naval Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve. As the largest single source of Navy and Marine Corps officers, the NROTC Scholarship Program plays an important role in preparing mature young men and women for leadership and US Navy management Jobs in an increasingly technical Navy and Marine Corps.

Enlistment into the Navy requires that all new recruits complete basic training, or boot camp.  This is an 8 week program that takes place in Great Lakes, Illinois.  Once finished with boot camp program, you will find that you are a physically strong sailor boasting skills that will see you through the rest of your life.
